Question:
I have a question concerning recording acoustic guitar. I'm not much when it comes to string choice and types etc and was wondering which kind would give off the least amount of squeak when being recorded. For example, I currently have bronze Martin Marquis' on mine now and they are pretty noisy for slow picked parts of a song...........so I'm looking to replace them with something a little quieter. Any help please? I haven't actually recorded the part yet but can't afford to try out ten sets just to find the right ones.
Answer:
Try the Elixir strings if you can lay your hands on a set. The wound strings have gore tex on the surface. Therefore, the strings feel a bit slippery when you first play your guitar but at least I got used to it fast. The strings should also keep their sound quality longer as the dirt from the fingers does not mute the strings that fast.
